Announcing my newest book with Penguin! Poverty Proof - 50 Ways to Train Your Brain for Wealth, is now out. 

There's something very gratifying about seeing the cover of your newest book for the first time. This is my seventh title with Penguin, and will be my eighth commercially published book. The printed copies will be available in bookstores across South Africa in two weeks' time, the ebook will come out worldwide simultaneously, and the audio version will follow a week or so after that on the Audible platform.

The book is dedicated to my close friend in the speaking fraternity, Paul du Toit. Paul once gave me a lesson that changed my professional trajectory, and was one of my earliest mental breakthroughs in the world of expert-positioning. Basically, he chewed me out for being too cheap.

'I want you to double your price,' he asserted sternly.

'But Paul,' I countered. 'If I do that, plagues of locusts shall surely set forth upon the land, and doom and failure shall surely follow me everywhere I go, yay even unto the ends of the earth. Also, something about flying death-lizards.'

'You don't have to understand it,' he said. 'You don't even have to believe it. Just do it, and watch it work.'

And I did. And it did.

I was astonished to discover that increased pricing actually led to more work, not less.

In the price-scale of professionals in your industry, where do you currently rank? Are you the cheapest option? I believe that positioning yourself at that level is a terrible mistake, which often leads to less business, not more.

That's the quick version of that principle. I go into more detail about it in the book.
